In November of 2022, we took a 12-day guided tour of Egypt via Gate1 Travel. After spending a couple of days in New York City, we boarded a flight to Cairo and checked into our hotel; a former palace that had been converted into a Marriott. We toured the great pyramids and the Sphinx, and on subsequent days we visited the Egyptian Museum and marketplace in Cairo. We flew to Luxor for more tours, then boarded a river cruise boat for a week of exploring ancient monuments and tombs. We entered the tombs of various powerful pharaohs and their queens, visited monuments to the various gods and learned a tremendous amount of history from our tour guide, a PhD candidate in Egyptology.
